“Do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” Ephesians 5:17 I’m soon to be 54 years old, and I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. God isn’t going to explicitly tell me what car to buy, what job to take, where to live etc. He does however make His will for our lives clear in His word. As long as we’re living according to His will and seeking Him we can do whatever we want. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart”. This doesn’t mean that if I’m on the rooftop looking at the neighbor lady She’ll be knocking on the door in a minute or two. It means that if I delight in the Lord, the desires of my heart should already be aligned with His will for me, and I won’t be on the rooftop in the first place. So if your desire to be an electrician doesn’t contradict God’s instructions, then you’re clear to start stripping wires at will. However, if your desire to start stripping involves a pole, then you should examine your heart and get right with God first. Once you’re right with God, He will place the proper desires on your heart, and fulfill them.
